"Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."
Proverbs 12:25 (KJV)
~ or another way to say it ~
"An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up."
Proverbs 12:25 (TNIV)
Making an effort to be one who expresses "good words" and finds ways to "cheer up" someone else is always worthwhile. Your friends, family, teachers, students, children, parents ... they need to hear a word fitly spoken by YOU! Some days this is easier to do than others, but EVERY DAY is worth the effort.
Listen to yourself.
Stop talking if you find yourself adding "heaviness" or "anxiety" by the words you are speaking.
Your smile can go even further than your "good words" ... the people around you don't need to see another annoyed, grumpy, bored, angry, indifferent face. Your kind expression will speak much louder than your words ever will.
As Christians, we are in the PEOPLE Business!
Big or small ... people are very important to God and must be treated with respect and kindness by us. When treating the "least of them" with respect and kindness (even when it is undeserved) you are actually doing it directly unto God.
Now THAT is certainly a worthwhile effort!!
